Strategic Policy Initiatives Unit:Leads the development of cross-government and cross-ministry work on longer-term priority policy topics. Currently, this includes a focus on Poverty Reduction, Indigenous social policy issues, including a review of the Indian Welfare Agreement, and a review of the MCCSS Act.• Lead, coordinate, and carry out strategic social policy development to conceptualize, plan, develop, review, and recommend intergovernmental strategies with an equity and anti-racism lens. • Provide advice on social policy issues related to Indigenous children, youth, and communities, recommending options in consideration of ministry and government objectives.• Develop and facilitate briefing materials and policy options to senior and executive leadership that is accurate, relevant and supports timely and effective decision making.• Plan for and lead engagements/consultations with external stakeholders/partners to support delivery on ministry and government policy priorities.• Support drafting of Cabinet and Treasury Board submissions• Influence internal and external stakeholders to help advance policy objectives.• Guide junior policy staff in undertaking complex projects and work effectively across the organization to maintain information flow and build consensus on difficult issues.
