ABOUT MATTHEW BROWN

I am a brand and strategic communications leader with international experience across financial services, corporate brands and community governance. My career began in London before taking me to New York, where I spent nearly a decade with Citigroup, working on global brand strategy, sponsorship and marketing initiatives across more than 100 countries. This included major international programmes such as Citi’s bicentennial campaign and Olympic sponsorship activity, supporting a global marketing organisation of more than colleagues worldwide. I later returned to the UK to join TSB during its formative years as a challenger bank. Working alongside the Brand, Customer & Communications Director at Executive Committee level, I contributed to the strategy and communications behind the bank’s “Welcome Back to Local Banking” positioning and a £30m integrated campaign across national media. In 2016 I made a deliberate decision to step away from corporate roles to become a solo father through surrogacy. To support that transition I founded UEAHousing, building and running a residential property business that allowed me to remain professionally active while being present as a full-time parent during my son’s early years. Running a business during this period strengthened the practical leadership skills that large organisations value: decisive problem-solving, stakeholder management, regulatory awareness and maintaining trust with clients, partners and suppliers. Alongside professional work I have also been active in governance and community leadership. I served as Chair of Governors at Oxhey Early Years and helped establish the Roots Federation of nurseries to secure local early-years provision. I continue to contribute to community organisations through Scouting leadership and equality and inclusion work with the London Gay Men’s Chorus. Across all of these roles, the consistent thread has been building organisations, brands and communities that people trust. Based in Hertfordshire / London and open to hybrid roles across London and the South East.
