Anthropologist, analyst, writer.Improving humanitarian aid through better use of insights, evidence, statistics, scenarios, anticipatory thinking, systems thinking, and decision-making tools.I write about (social) science – mostly as journalism, occasionally as poems. My scribblings have appeared in SAPIENS, BioNews, SciDev.Net, the Wellcome Trust\'s blog, Shot of Science and Pi Media. Poems have appeared in Haque, Shot of Science, as well as now defunct magazines: Pomegranate and Vocal Solo.My anthropological research used evolutionary approaches to study social behaviour. My research looked at how people work together in marginalised communities, focussing particularly on Saami reindeer herders in Norway\'s Arctic areas, but also Mosuo farmers and Tibetan yak herders in China.
