About Matthew F Borowski

For those who value brevity, I am an engineer who, to the core, loves control theory, analog + digital electronic design, and applied mathematics; I am curious about the world; I am a leader. I love to ski.For a more detailed description, read on. In 2010, I graduated with my Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, where I focused my academic studies and research in the field of control theory. I have a deep understanding of linear systems and their inherent nonlinearites. I am deeply fascinated by the application of all aspects of control including- Classical Control Theory; PID control, in its simplicity, is still able to deliver desired dynamic performance a great majority of the time. I have knowledge of system (electrical and mechanical) dynamic response (rise-time, overshoot, and tracking error), frequency response (gain & phase margins), and stability analyses; bode, root-locus, and nyquist plots can all help gain insight into the open loop and closed loop dynamics. There is an elegance to this science that I believe will never become obsolete- Modern Control Theory: The future of controls rests in the ability to categorize a system using state-space analysis and applying advanced mathematics and algorithms to control a system\'s response. Being able to accurately represent a physical, multi-input, multi-output (MIMO) systems can be very powerful and allows the use of advanced control techniques such as linear quadratic regulator control, Ricatti-based optimal control value functions, and H-infinity control design methods. I have knowledge of optimal control to allow for parameter optimization (think: if this system has to do one thing very well, how do you control around that variable?) and nonlinear stability analysis (phase plane, bifurcation analysis). I am also interested in and have experience with parameter/state estimation with the use of observers and Kalman filters.
