ABOUT MATTHEW ARKIN

Matthew Arkin is a critically acclaimed actor, an author, an acting teacher, an entrepreneur, and a recovering attorney. His current focus in on building the Batch 22 New American Aquavit spirit brand that he launched with two partners in July,\'22, and which immediately won several awards, including a platinum medal/Best Aquavit at the Los Angeles Spirits Awards and Specialty Spirit of the Year at the New Orleans Spirits Competition, as well as being selected as Specialty Spirit of the Year by the Beverage Testing Institute. As an actor, he has worked in film, television and on stage for more than 50 years, working with some of our nation\'s leading established playwrights and most notable new talents, garnering critical praise in a variety of roles. As an author, he has published the suspense novel, In the County of the Blind, as well as written a number of short stories, children\'s books and works for the screen. He attributes his skill at crafting dialogue and creating three dimensional characters to his experience on stage, television, and film, and to reading approximately one suspense thriller per week since he was a young child. As an acting teacher, he believes that every actor must develop a fluid problem-solving approach to the varied challenges presented by each role and each story. Matthew Arkin’s Technique and Scene Study Class draws on a variety of techniques and methods allowing the actor to build his own toolbox. In it students develop a flexible approach to address the specific issues and problems that change with each part played and each story told. Matthew\'s foundation comes from his own study with Uta Hagen and Austin Pendleton, combined with the lessons learned from his own experience.
