In this role, he advised sovereign states and wartime commanders on issues involving the law of the sea, rules of engagement, armed conflict, and detainee policy. He also competed in mock trial competitions, including the Garland R. Walker Mock Trial (2025) and the South Texas Mock Trial Challenge (2023).In recognition of his leadership and service, Matthew was selected as a recipient of the Dickerson-Moore Award, honoring exceptional contributions to human dignity and efforts to improve the welfare and conditions of others. He was also named a Member of the Dean’s Advisory Board and awarded the Gary A. Kuiper Endowed Scholarship.He seeks to integrate his litigation background, international perspective, and leadership experience to make meaningful, long term contributions to a distinguished law firm.
