I am a Ph.D-Educated programmer with a passion for building high-impact products. I led a team that reshaped BBC iPlayer and am now working on redefining how people watch live sports.At the BBC, my team was responsible for making the iPlayer API 10 times faster while drastically improving uptime. We also introduced a Continuous Delivery process which reduced the release cycle from 2 weeks to 2 hours. Having seen the advantages of continuously shipping code, my goal is to bring the same benefits to DAZN.With software, finding a solution is often only half of the problem. That\'s why I look to encourage creativity, while ensuring that the team gets stuff done. By balancing creativity and pragmatism in this way my team were able to conceive, build and deploy a new real-time popularity service for iPlayer in a matter of weeks.As one of the few programmers with experience running microservices in production, my focus is now on pushing the boundaries of this exciting technology, while working on products with a global impact.
