ABOUT MATTHEW WILLIAMS
Hi! I\'m Matt, I work at Illumina as an R&D scientist in DNA sequencing technology. I use biochemical and analytical techniques to further innovative projects with the reagent sciences team.In 2025 I graduated with an MPhil by research in physcial and atmospheric Chemistry at the University of Cambridge. My thesis surrounded the oxidative power of pollutant metal ions on simulated lung fluid, along with the biological implications of such effects. I previously studied at the University of Bath attaining a BSc in Biological Natural Sciences where I specialised in organometallic chemistry, biochemistry, and mathematical modelling.Between degrees, I worked for a year as a full-time Chemistry teacher at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford. I taught pupils from the ages of 11 through to 18, including GCSE and A level classes.On the side, I involve myself in the Arts scene, primarily in music composition and theatre. I had the pleasure of writing and MD-ing \'This Side of Life\', an original musical that was brought to the Edinburgh Fringe stage in the summer of 2025.\'Feel-good, lively.
