London, GB

My role as Head of Data and AI involves me being applied to three key areas:Functional Leadership: Establish and steer Natter\'s data strategy, ensuring alignment with the Company’s goals and objectives.AI Innovation: Lead Natter\'s efforts in identifying, evaluating, and implementing cutting-edge AI and data analytics solutions to drive business growth, innovation, and competitive advantage.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the departments at Natter to communicate complex data and AI concepts and foster a data-driven culture within the Company. My accomplishments to date include:+ I researched and evaluated 34 transcription vendors to a shortlist of 4. I took part in contract negotiations with the final choice. Working with the Engineering team, I consulted on the database architecture to house the transcription data from the vendor\'s API and on the UX for transcription within the Natter application.+ I rebuilt Topic Modelling at Natter, utilising the NLP and LLM models of third-party vendors, in addition to bespoke in-house AI solutions. Generated themes are now 99% accurate, with only minor grammatical tweaks needed; additionally, AI-generated descriptions for the themes are now present. I rebuilt the free-text to theme classification to utilise cosine similarity, which meant that the classification of free-text to AI-generated themes improved to 95% accuracy.+ Working with the Product and Design teams, I reimagined the Natter applications\' Analytics and Insights suite.+ I designed and built the Product Analytics and Business Intelligence framework. SaaS\'s included Segment, Pendo, and Google Analytics. A GCP Compute engine orchestrated the ETL layer using Apache Airflow. The data was stored in Google BigQuery. The visualisations and dashboards were created in Tableau.

ABOUT MATTHEW W. N.

Matthew is a data scientist who builds AI systems that surface insights from messy, high-volume data, i.e. conversations, unstructured text, and complex operational datasets.Over 12 years, he has worked across the full stack: data engineering and pipeline architecture, machine learning, Natural Language Processing, LLM orchestration, and agentic systems. He has led enterprise data programmes for Fortune 500 clients, built predictive models across billions of records, and delivered AI pipelines for public sector organisations. His work spans entity reconciliation at scale, semantic classification, RAG systems, and multi-provider LLM abstraction with cost and latency observability.Recent projects include theme classification systems processing phone calls, agentic applications with 50+ orchestrated tools, and pipelines that transform raw audio into structured, actionable insight in minutes rather than months. He holds a DPhil from Oxford. His research - proving Turing instability in solid-state systems - was published in Physical Review Letters and featured in Nature Materials.
