As a Principal Software Engineer on the Xbox LIVE Community team I owned distributed services and worked on cross-team engineering efforts to improve developer productivity and reduce time spent on infrastructure and scaffolding- Xbox Native Live Streaming: Enabling low-friction easy streaming from Xbox consoles. I led the initial engineering discussions and engagement with partner companies to design a service architecture that interfaced with their public APIs. I prototyped and designed new OAuth 2.0 device code flows to link Xbox LIVE profiles to third party accounts to enable the feature, and designed the service architecture and the integration points with existing Xbox LIVE services- Datastore and CoGS Efficiency: I prototyped and tested in production the shifting of several hundred terabytes of non-relational document data from Elastic Search to Azure Cognitive Search, with a projected reduction of 3x the cost from the existing solution- Developer Efficiency and Overhead: I was involved in or led efforts to reduce how much time individual developers need to build and ship services. This work included: modernization of build infrastructure, integration of deployments into Azure DevOps automation, and build-time automation for compliance tasks- Next generation service platform: I am part a cross-team effort to prototype and prove out a next-generation service platform for Xbox LIVE built on top of modern C# and.NET Core- Coaching and mentoring: I actively participate in several organization-wide mentoring programs, as well as coach and mentor early in career and junior engineers regarding technical and career challenges.
