ABOUT MATTHEW MONACO

I started my career after graduating from a digital media program in 2005. The program focused on a cross-section of graphic design, digital design, audio/video, and web development. We studied everything from user experience in software development to traditional print layout design. One of the highlights was our storytelling course which really boosted my UX design.After the DMA program, I worked for a web design agency. We worked on all kinds of projects mostly for medium-sized businesses but our specialty was eCommerce. We used technologies like osCommerce, Magento, Shopify, Wordpress, and Joomla to create applications and online stores for our clients. I participated in the layout design and front-end development of many projects.I then worked for a non-profit as a senior designer. There, I worked on interesting projects like e-learning and lead capture initiatives. I also worked on print projects, dealing with printers to execute large volume jobs. I lead UX design and brand while managing junior designers.Recently, I completed a boot camp at Brainstation. The course was a full-stack web development certificate where we learned about things like Javascript, React, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Express, Node, and RESTful API\'s. For my final project, I built a React Native word game that used sockets to handle gameplay between 2 players.I then worked as a senior product designer (UX/UI) at Intersect. Intersect works with interesting startups and large clients to produce web and native apps, and other web solutions. I work alongside talented teams of PMs, Devs, SAs, and other designers to design and execute anything from a proof of concept for a startup to an enterprise platform for a bank or insurance company.Currently I work as the manager of product design for a logistics scale-up GoBolt. Our entire logistics network is powered by proprietary applications designed and built by our internal product team. The product design team manages the look and experience of 5 different applications from a warehouse management system to a routing and dispatch application.Design systems, web, native mobile, design ops, user research, management, leadership, mentorship.
