ABOUT MATTHEW V. CARBONE
I am a Financial Services professional with expertise in middle office and prime brokerage operations, managing the trade lifecycle beginning with trade capture through settlement. I work with hedge fund and asset managers – including multi-million dollar clients - to ensure the accuracy of booking and settlement instructions throughout the process, as well as addressing issues when they arise. Failed trades are a serious issue, so I implemented broker mappings to reduce the potential for future fails, and settled hundreds of aged, failed trades. Throughout my role in the middle office, I implemented operational improvements that include developing standard operating protocols at HSBC to migrate onboarding functions offshore, and enhancing Straight-Through-Processing by establishing broker and security mappings. Manual touch points represented one of JPM’s pain points that I reduced by training clients to independently make trade corrections. When I was at Bear Stearns, I created an intra-day break resolution system that immediately captured trade discrepancies. Throughout my career, I have leveraged technology to drive efficiency and improve accuracy through automation, including updating Rodman & Renshaw’s trade booking process. I take pride in having mentored new hires to help them grow their skills in a challenging environment.
