I began my career in law in 1998 and qualified as a solicitor in 2004. I’m now a principal lawyer and head of the serious injury department in the North of England and in Wales.I’ve specialised in personal injury for the whole of my career and have specific expertise in accidents at and illness suffered at work as well as occupational stress and military claims.My expertise has helped claimants secure substantial compensation payments and rehabilitation for a range of devastating accidents involving fatal injury, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation and post-traumatic stress disorder.I also manage relationships with many of our trade union and Police Federation partners.I am accredited as a Senior Litigator by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).For the past several years, I’ve been ranked in independent legal guide, Chambers and Partners, as a Band 1 leader in the field of personal injury. The 2021 edition of the guide states: “Matthew Tomlinson regularly handles complex, multi-track personal injury claims regarding workplace and military accidents.
