WORK HISTORY
Exercise Physiologist @Yale New Haven Hospital
New Haven, CT, US
My role at YNHH is \"clinical exercise physiologist\"(EP-C certified) in the Digestive Health Multispecialty Clinic/ bariatric surgery and the weight loss program, covering most of southern Connecticut.I designed the exercise program for Yale, including all assessments, legal documentation, safety protocols, exercise prescription, educational curriculum and protocols for individual and group exercise classes. I instruct the majority of exercise education and exercise training classes (one one one and group) in the bariatric program. I conduct physical activity counseling (via follow ups) in person and via tele-medicine. I also do occasional intakes and follow ups for patients in the Yale medical weight management and fatty liver programs. I initiate the referral process for patients into physical therapy in some regions.I have been in charge of interns and worked with other providers in the multispecialty clinic (e.g, dietitians, social workers, psychiatry, AP providers, nurses, etc.). I train other providers, such as physical therapists, in exercise education and protocols, both internal and external to the hospital system.I work with a team of other providers, including surgeons, physician assistants and APRNs, to conduct both pilot and large-scale research projects in physical activity assessment with fitness trackers (Fitbit and Garmin) and bio-electrical impedance (BIA) that are integrated into the medical record (EPIC). I conduct annual quality improvement (QI) projects to enhance the patient experience. I work with a variety of providers on community outreach, fundraising and public promotion/education of medical treatments for obesity. I have been a COVID screener for the hospital and worked on safety and regulatory teams in surgical units. I liaise with numerous providers at YNHH and Yale University Medical School with the explicit objective of providing an equitable care signature for our patients and an environment of healing for all.
