About Matthew Schwartz
As the Associate Vice President of Research Administration at University of West Florida (UWF), I oversaw the administration of academic and non-academic contracts and grants that supported the UWF mission and enhance the research and teaching experience for our students, faculty, and staff. With over ten years of higher education administration experience at university, college, and department levels, I have developed strategic plans for pursuing, securing, and executing sponsored research, and stimulated university-industry partnerships with regional and national partners.I am also a professor and a researcher in coastal and estuarine biogeochemistry, with a focus on surface water-groundwater interactions. I serve as a principal investigator on projects that improve STEM education, including strengthening the K-12 pipeline and identifying best practices in STEM higher education. I have received multiple honors and awards for my contributions to the science education community, such as the Rod Nave Award and the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering Faculty Excellence Award. I am passionate about using social media to reach current and potential students, as well as community stakeholders in higher education.
