ABOUT MATTHEW SCARBOROUGH
Assistant Professor running the Environmental Microbiome Engineering Research Group at the University of Vermont. Supervises a growing group of graduate and undergraduate students. Funded by NSF, USDA, USEPA, and private industries. Teaches courses in Water and Wastewater Engineering, Biological Process Engineering, Solid Waste Management, Modeling of Biological Processes, and Environmental Microbiology. Pedagogy is evolving, but loves teaching-as-research and using evidence-based approaches. Primary interests are anaerobic bioprocessing of wastes, microbiome-based fermentation, microbial ecology, sustainable agriculture, and using microbes to protect public health and combat climate change.
