DARPA transforms the seemingly impossible into world-changing tech capabilities, inventing the Internet, GPS, Siri, mRNA vaccines, and more. DARPA Program Managers originate, design, and manage the development of these capabilities while maintaining alliances with key stakeholders to ensure they have maximum impact. By design, Program Managers serve fixed-term tours ranging from 2-6 years, which keeps a conveyor belt of fresh minds with new ideas in constant flux through the Agency. As a Program Manager in the Biological Technologies Office (BTO) at DARPA, I have originated four (4) large programs and managed a total of eleven (11) programs, not including smaller \"seedlings\" and SBIRs, that span Neuroscience to Synthetic Biology. The research efforts I have managed include everything from identifying novel druggable targets for improved cognition in the face of sleep loss or neurotrauma to developing biomanufacturing technologies that enable the production of food from air and flexible switching between feedstocks or products.
