I started work as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in 2009. I also work privately at Spire Murrayfield Hospital and The Edinburgh Clinic. My elective practice deals almost exclusively with hip and knee surgery, including all forms of joint replacement and related surgery. In addition I have recently joined the Bone and Soft tissue Tumour (Sarcoma) team in South East Scotland which forms part of the Scottish Sarcoma Network.I am part of the renowned Orthopaedic Trauma Unit at the Royal Infirmary with a particular interest in lower limb periarticular fractures, complex arthroplasty problems, periprosthetic and pathological fractures. The Orthopaedic Trauma Unit is one of the largest in the UK and I see high volumes of trauma cases of the upper limb, lower limb and spine. I have many active research interests, focused on my areas of surgical expertise.I am a faculty member on national and international Orthopaedic courses, a course director for Advanced Trauma Life Support and act as a reviewer for a number of Orthopaedic Journals. At the Royal Infirmary I am involved in the Scottish Patient Safety Programme. I am one of 2 Programme Directors for a ChM in Orthopaedic Surgery. This is an online two year Masters degree in Orthopaedic Surgery that is run jointly by The University of Edinburgh and The Royal College of Surgeons I am a committee member and Vice Chair of the Scottish Arthroplasty Project.
