About Matthew Moon

I\'ve worked in the electric utility industry most of my career, always striving to broaden my experience. As an engineer, I excelled in applying diverse telecommunications technologies in the electric substation environment. I engineered microwave radio backbone systems, fiber optic backbone systems, WiMAX and spread spectrum radio backhaul circuits, cellular backhaul circuits, leased copper with fiber isolation backhaul circuits, VSAT backhaul circuits and others too numerous to list. I implemented the GE Smallworld GIS application to inventory and display telecom assets and fiber optic cable networks. I engineered equipment buildings, DC power and generator backup systems. I researched and engineered high voltage isolation systems and grounding for telecom circuits entering electric substations. I engineered Ethernet LANs in electric substation control houses. I hit the sweet spot of my career in 2015 when I plunged into the exciting and challenging world of team building and leadership. I helped to assemble, mentor and lead a diverse and talented team that grew to over 160 utility telecommunications professionals. I’m starting fresh again with the challenge of building a new telecommunications engineering team from scratch, first within the electric utility industry, but then… who knows how far it might go? I can’t wait to apply everything I’ve learned about building a high-performing team inside a fun and caring culture in the engineering services crucible. I\'m an excellent communicator and have a knack for teaching, public speaking and writing. I keep an eye on the big picture so I can be moving in a direction that has the largest positive impact on the widest possible audience. I may be an engineering geek at heart, but in the end it\'s all about people, and my heart belongs to my people.
