Alongside day-to-day portfolio managements duties, our team successfully onboarded Charles River as both a portfolio management and order manager system. I played a pivotal role in designing the portfolio manager interfaces within the new system, as well as implementing improved risk, control and efficiency workflows to streamline our processes and mitigate operational risk. The project also required a high degree of collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders to repipe many up and downstream data pipes. The project was challenging but hugely rewarding.

ABOUT MATTHEW MCCARTHY
Experienced portfolio manager with an excellent track record managing pool funds, segregated mandates and ETFs. I have managed a broad array of investments, specialising in index funds, multi-factor investing, factor tilting, ESG as well as targeted thematic exposures. I have managed client money against all typical benchmark issuers such as MSCI, S&P, FTSE etc and in previous roles, I have worked alongside colleagues in product/strategy to design and implement both proprietary indices and bespoke client solutions, such as carbon reduction or tilting away from a core index family.Alongside these day-to-day investment duties, I have a passion for building portfolio management systems and processes to improve efficiencies whilst mitigating operational risk within the business unit. During my time at Legal & General we successfully migrated our portfolio and order management systems to Charles River. The product was immensely challenging and rewarding in both measures, giving me scope and freedom to design our portfolio management systems from scratch.
