I Joined as the head of Information Technology for a self-funded insurance/financial services start-up to guide the maturity of its information platform and practices by establishing its foundational, secure and scalable information architecture to support its rapidly accelerating growth. • Consolidated a collection of departmentally disparate business applications and processes down to two top tier platforms, Salesforce.com and Microsoft Azure • Planned and migrated to MS-O365 and MS Teams • Planned and managed a near 100% technology migration to the, there are a few domain controllers floating around in each of our office locations. • Planned and managed the relocation / re-appropriation of our Finance and Information Technology teams to a lower cost geography reducing spend by 60% in those departments. • Developed an effective business applications team from non-traditional backgrounds in a period and geography of scarce technology resource • Planned and took the company from zero to SOC 2 compliance in 6 months, personally authoring most policies and policy controls. • Established our compliance department and provided the tools and processes use to govern our enterprise. • After establishing Agile as our DevOps methodology w/ tools, I pushed these concepts into the enterprise as an effective way to manage departmental goals and objectives. • Terminated, re-negotiated and consolidated multiple vendor contracts to gain more favorable pricing and terms reducing overall IT spend by 35% in the face of a 30% increase in sales (mostly sales) • Utilized my consulting and big-company expertise to help ground departments in business fundamentals and business process best practice. • Authored information security and general governance policies. • Established and implemented controls and procedures to progress the organization to its next level of operational maturity. • Successfully managed and completed our HIPAA and SOC 2 type l and II certifications.
