ABOUT MATTHEW MAYLIN

For my ninth birthday I received my first computer, an Atari. Very soon afterwards, I taught myself to program to produce my first sprite based game. I have been passionate about technology ever since. I have over 20 years industry experience of every stage of software development; from stakeholder interview and specification of requirements to full-stack, infrastructure and CI development. I am dedicated to producing a high quality product, with a keen eye for detail, good software architecture design and coding practices. I enjoy working both with a team and under my own initiative. In addition to development I play an active role in recruitment, leadership, mentorship and training of other developers. I constantly strive for improvement in process and tools to increase development productivity. I am motivated, very adaptable, quick to learn, good at problem solving and have experience with statistical, analytical and mathematical modelling. I have a doctorate combining 3D analysis, computer vision, image processing and statistical modelling; and a masters degree using artificial neural networks for machine learning. I enjoy learning new technologies and engineering good solutions. I believe well written code is an art form and has an aesthetic which can be considered beautiful.
