ABOUT MATTHEW MANDERS

During my PKF Littlejohn Audit Summer Internship in Canary Wharf, London, I executed limited assurance reviews on 100 parish councils. I carried out audit and compliance procedures on financial documents submitted, expanding my accounting and communication skills through client interactions. Moreover, I had the privilege of broadening my understanding of a larger audit process by shadowing senior auditors on an oil company project. My experience culminated in refining my presentation skills, as I achieved 1st place when pitching a ground-breaking business idea to the firm\'s partners. This presentation revolved around how AI can be leveraged to benefit the firm. As the Head of Careers for the Mathematics Society at the University of Nottingham, I\'m passionate about empowering students and helping them navigate their post-university journey. In my current role, I organize events designed to educate younger students about the myriad of opportunities that await them after graduation. Additionally, I took the initiative to create valuable resources that inform students about the technical aspects of working in finance. Through this experience, I\'ve developed the ability to effectively prioritize spring and summer internship application opportunities for society members. Beyond my academic and professional pursuits, I am proud to have earned the prestigious Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award from July 2020 to July 2021. This experience provided me with opportunities to further develop my leadership skills by leading my group during expeditions. It also challenged me to build resilience during a demanding five-day expedition, where I not only encouraged my team but also efficiently delegated tasks within the group. My commitment to community service shines through in the countless hours I dedicated to volunteering in care homes, ensuring that residents received the best quality of care. I am deeply committed to continuous learning, personal growth, and making a positive impact in the fields of finance and mathematics.
