About Matthew Long

Matthew holds an M.S in Mechanical Engineering from the Ohio State University. Prior to joining Braemar in May 2019 he worked for Honeywell Aerospace in Urbana, OH, holding several positions of increasing responsibility. Most recently he was the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager, overseeing the work of a team of 10 engineers in the Aerospace Lighting industry. While at Honeywell Matthew earned his Professional Engineering License, completed Honeywell’s Six Sigma Black Belt training program, and earned a certificate in Project Management in partial fulfilment of a Project Management Professional License. In 2015, while working as a Product Manufacturing Engineer, Matthew earned Honeywell’s Outstanding Engineer Award for his work developing software tools in Microsoft Excel, improving the AME team’s efficiency, particularly in working with SAP and other manufacturing systems.Leaning on these previous experiences, Matthew has a broad toolkit to utilize. He has experience in ERP system structure and navigation, including automation of SAP data extraction using the Visual Basic for Applications programming language. Using Matlab and Excel, he developed tools to analyze varied datasets (text and numeric), presenting them in a format that is easy to understand by a broad audience. He has also worked with statistical methods in manufacturing environments for developing variation reducing strategies and lean methodology implementations. Underlying all of this analytical experience is a foundation in forensic investigation and troubleshooting that guides Matthew to ask pertinent questions and drive issues to as expedient a resolution as possible.
