About Matt Levatich
I\'ve had a steady career progression with broad-based experience in the key functions of global, branded, consumer-durable product companies. My 26-year career with Harley-Davidson culminated with 5-years as President and CEO after serving the prior 6-years as President and COO. The headwinds facing this iconic global brand, with sales in over 90 countries, are well documented. They required significant re-tooling of the strategy, culture and capabilities of the company to become as skilled at building riders as the company was at building its renowned products. I identified the issues and faced them with typical creativity and determination – leveraging every facet of my experience and leadership strength to accelerate the needed shift. My public board service began in 2012 with Emerson Electric and continues today. I have served on Emerson’s Audit Committee since 2012, the Compensation Committee from 2012 through early 2020 and have now rotated onto the Finance Committee. In addition to Emerson’s Board, I serve on the Board of AriensCo (a closely-held private company in the power equipment business) where I serve on the Governance and Compensation Committee. While H-D’s CEO, I served on the H-D Board and had significant responsibility to shape the Board agenda and discussions.Along the way, I developed and nurtured nuanced leadership capability. From the earliest days, my ability to influence peers and decision-makers emerged; influence and respect on a one-to-one basis is the foundation of my success in leading ever larger teams and organizations. Companies and their stakeholders are not abstract entities, they are made up of individuals, and the richness of diverse input strengthens direction and implementation. Connecting and influencing at a human level has been a core ingredient in my ability to advance my leadership capability as I\'ve progressed in my scope and responsibility.I seek to be affiliated only with people and organizational cultures exemplifying the utmost in ethical character – those for whom integrity is uncompromising. I am looking to apply my significant experience to provide the highest level of stewardship and governance to help companies grow and prosper for their stakeholders.
