Established a 2nd line of defence team situated within the firm’s Treasury, Enterprise, Credit & Climate Risk function, tasked with the provision of an effective review & challenge to Regulatory Capital & Liquidity rule interpretations. As a well respected leader with significant regulatory capital experience, I built & developed a team of technical experts to address weaknesses in existing rule interpretations. Enhanced review processes were quickly designed and implemented & since formation, the team has established itself as a key control point, who’s expert opinions are routinely deferred to as part of the firm’s executive-level decision making. Key milestones achieved included- Leading the establishment and development of a 2nd line of defence capital & liquidity oversight team within the Risk function, focussed on UK and EU standardised rule requirements- Providing effective review & challenge of capital & liquidity interpretations spanning all product types and structures, leveraging years of technical expertise developed working across major global banking institutions- Representing Risk as an active member of a monthly senior management risk committee, routinely providing direct advice to the Group CRO, CFO and Treasurer to help steer the firm toward a prudent interpretative approach for regulatory capital & liquidity rule requirements- Proactively found and challenged multiple material interpretations leading to real changes and tangible results- Hired, developed and lead a team of regulatory professionals- Designed & implemented significantly enhanced regulatory analysis processes that ensure the provision of impartial advice is thoroughly cited and well documented- Established a reputation as a proactive team player focussed on getting results- Maintained an organised & well structured results-focussed delivery under tight time deadlines- Adaptive style of delivery that can accommodate both senior management & technical subject matter experts
