ABOUT MATTHEW HART

Matthew S. Hart, AIA, NCARB started in the profession in 2004 as an intern while attending Savannah College of Art and Design. He worked at two firms in Valdosta, GA, including co-founding and owning Studio 8 Design, a full service architecture firm from May 2014 through June 2016. In July 2016, his work transitioned to North Carolina where he worked at Walter Robbs Callahan Pierce Architects in Winston-Salem until January 2018.Starting in January 2018, his work will transition again to Charlotte, North Carolina.Matt attended the University of Florida’s College of Design, Construction, and Planning for two years. He then transferred to the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in 2003, where he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts (2005) and his Master of Architecture (2012).Matt was actively involved in SCAD’s AIAS Chapter and has continued his involvement serving on his local AIA Chapter’s Board (Southwest Georgia) as the Communication/Education Chair (20••••15) and President-Elect (2016). Matt has also served as an AIA Regional Associate Director (South Atlantic Region) and was elected to the AIA National Associates Committee 2012 Executive Board. Matt served three consecutive appointments on the AIA/NCARB Internship Advisory Council (IAC), serving as the Co-Chair from 20••••16. He currently is serving a two year term as the Director of Education for AIA North Carolina.Away from the office, Matt is heavily involved in community work. As a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, he spent two weeks in New Zealand with a Global Village Work Project. He has also received the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. He is married to Natalie and they have two kids, Rowdy and Rebel.
