ABOUT MATTHEW H. OKUBO
My surveying career started in 1998 with DEI Professional Services, LLC in Newport Beach, CA (as an entry level chainman-with only educational surveying background). Within 1-1/2 years of field experience was promoted to an entry level Party Chief for our primary project in Beaumont, CA (Three Rings Ranch). In 2002, DEI was acquired by Hall & Foreman, Inc. where I had to be re-instated as a Chainman (due to positional constraints). Within the next few years, I progressed through the ranks of Party Chief, Chief of Parties, Project Surveyor, Survey Manager and Director of Surveying to my current Position of Vice President of Geomatics.My current responsibilities/focus are to re-build our company-wide Geomatics department to be a fully self-sustaining (not relying on Engineering work) powerhouse while ensuring we have a diverse Client base to still thrive during the next (cyclical) economic downturn.
