ABOUT MATTHEW GARBUTT

Partner at Richardson Lissack, specialising in complex disputes, fraud, regulatory and reputational risk.I advise organisations and individuals on high-stakes situations where legal, commercial and reputational issues intersect. Much of my work involves stepping in when matters are contentious, sensitive or time-critical, and where early judgement and control matter.My practice includes- Fraud investigations and asset recovery (including digital assets)- High-value breach of contract and professional negligence disputes- PFI disputes and adjudications- Guiding clients through regulatory engagement and enforcement issues (including FCA, CMA, SRA, RSH)- Advising directors and organisations on defamation, harassment and reputation management arising from third-party conduct- Using litigation crowdfunding to make difficult or novel claims viable- Representing serving members and veterans of the British Army- Delivering client training on fraud risk, AML, contracts and dispute managementI am a member of the Fraud Lawyers Association and the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management.
