About Matthew Flores
My professional journey has been diverse and satisfying, but when I finally made my way to HEDIS in 2015, I found my true home. Information Technology appeals to my love of order, logic, and functionality, but never satisfied my sense of wonder and joy in working with people. Medicine (respiratory therapy) fulfilled my drive to serve others and make a difference, but ultimately, it was just too easy to engage me for long. When I discovered healthcare quality (and HEDIS in particular) in grad school, it was a revelation. It affords the ability to enact real change, work intimately with brilliant and complex individuals, and create solutions in a topically diverse and amazingly intricate environment. My current goal, having found my place and passion, is to master the quality craft in this setting where I am surrounded by more expertise, creativity, motivation, and competence than I have ever experienced.
