Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project - Virginia Beach, VA (June 2019 - Present)- The Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project will construct a new two-lane tunnel under Thimble Shoal Channel- When complete, the new tunnel will carry two lanes of traffic southbound and the existing tunnel will carry two lanes of traffic northbound- Total Cost $924 Million- Upon completion, it will become the first transportation tunnel constructed by a Tunnel Boring Machine in the Hampton Roads area- HNTB\'s role is to provide the overall construction administration of the Construction Management program for the District, providing construction management, document control, inspection, claims management and avoidance, safety, risk management, value engineering and engineering support throughout the Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project- Project website:
