About Matthew Branch

Matthew Branch is an Educator and cultural strategist working in Higher Education and Arts and Cultural Management exploring the ways in which programming can be a vehicle for personal development, Social Impact, and institutional change. As Associate Director for Student Activities at Brown he supports students in co-curricular learning and skill building through arts, cultural, identity-based, and experiential education programming and leads a team of Assistant Directors specializing in performing arts safety, social justice and identity-based programming, and large-scale event and space management. He is a recent graduate of the Public Humanities Master’s program where he explored issues of race-making and inclusion in university and cultural heritage spaces. He has previously worked at the Brooklyn Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.In addition to his work here at Brown, Matt does cultural strategy work with nonprofits domestically and internationally. He is currently working Black South West Network, a race equity non-profit based Bristol, United Kingdom and is on the Board of Directors for Providence ¡CityArts, which facilities connections between arts and ideas for Providence area youth. He has also been on the boards of The Steve Fund and New Leaders Council Rhode Island, and is a competitive ballroom and salsa dancer.
