Matt Duffy currently leads the San Bruno Park School District as the Superintendent of Schools. In San Bruno, Matt is focused on creating a culture of trust and inclusivity while working to promote equitable outcomes for all students. Matt has nearly 30 years in education from teacher to Superintendent. Most recently serving for 5 years as the Superintendent of the West Contra Costa, a preschool to high school district in the Bay Area, Matt has led in a variety of complex, fast moving and high stress environments. Matt has managed teams big and small, worked closely with elected officials and political leaders and managed institutional finances up to nearly one billion dollars. Matt has been on the front lines of opening new schools and programs as well as closing schools. His wide array of experiences have helped him develop knowledge of school facilities, food services, community engagement, special education, athletics and extracurriculars, school safety and more. He has been through complicated rounds of union negotiations and understands the pressures senior leaders face to manage both up to their leaders and boards and down and across to their teams. Matt also leads Kelp Consulting and teaches an educational leadership module for the Aspiring Administrator program at the Contra Costa County Office of Education. He is dedicated to supporting future leaders to execute their visions through effective leadership, thoughtful professional learning and efficient operational management. Matt has led teams at the school level, district level and across multiple organizations. He is well positioned to support teams in their quest to refine their vision, stay the course and ensure implementation. He is particularly passionate about school culture, organizational learning, leadership in complex spaces, and pursuing equity through both work inside the classrooms and innovative models of school.

   San Bruno Park is a linguistically and culturally diverse school district in the San Francisco Bay Area. Located at the northern tip of Silicon Valley and just 10 miles south of San Francisco, this small preschool to grade 8 district is the home to five elementary schools and one middle school. Home to YouTube, Walmart.com and numerous other businesses, the city is a hub for tech and innovation. The city is geographically diverse, ranging from the urban flatlands to the central green space of the San Bruno City Park to the grand sweeping Bay vistas from the highest hilltops of the community. Through the generous support of the San Bruno community, the district is the recipient of a recent facilities bond to rebuild aging infrastructure. The district maintains a strong financial position as a result of new and increasing revenue sources. The San Bruno Park Board of Directors recently approved a 5% raise for 20••••24 school after a 9.5% raise over two previous years for all educators in the district, demonstrating its commitment to attract and retain talented staff across the district.
