   I currently work as a Project Designer at Engineering Express, under the supervision of multiple licensed Professional Engineers (PEs) with multi-state licensure. My role involves structural engineering for building components such as guardrails, flood barrier systems, and canopies. My primary focus is designing different canopy systems, including freestanding and host-attached pergolas, cantilevered canopies, and suspended canopies.Most of my work involves aluminum structural components, giving me extensive experience with the Aluminum Design Manual (ADM). I also design steel components and reinforced concrete footings. I frequently work with different editions of the International Building Code (IBC) and ASCE 7, as our projects span across the U.S. with varying site-specific criteria. This has sharpened my ability to interpret and apply building codes effectively, enabling informed engineering decisions.A significant part of my role is determining design pressures acting on a particular system, calculated using ASCE 7 methodologies and the 7 acceptable load combinations, accounting for wind loads, seismic criteria, snow loads, etc. Using structural analysis, I determine forces (axial, shear, bending, torsion) acting on each individual member, and calculate geometric properties like moment of inertia (Ix) and section modulus (Sx) to ensure members are adequately sized to handle the applied loads.Additionally, I design all of the internal connections along with connections to the host structure, providing host structure reactions to the Engineer of Record (EOR) to ensure compatibility and structural integrity across all components.
