About Matthew de Haro
Matthew De Haro was born in Los Angeles and raised in Whittier. He transferred from Rio Hondo College, where he graduated in May with five associates including one in Political Science, and another in Public Speaking. He is working to graduate in 2025 from UCR with a B.A. in Public Policy. Matthew has been a dedicated public servant and has helped his community since high school. He served as the Student Body President his last year at Rio Hondo community college, and the previous year served as Treasurer. Since high school, he has served in various organizations including the Principal’s Advisory. Matthew has worked for State Asm. Sabrina Cervantes on her campaign for State Senate. Throughout all his commitments he managed to maintain good grades and also work outside of school. During his tenure, he worked with many state officials, elected representatives and community leaders like college chancellors, deans, state assembly members, state senators and congress members. For all his dedication and contribution he has earned dozens of awards including the Sacchi Scholarship of Rio Hondo, and multiple congressional recognition certificates. After graduation, he plans to work for the government within the state legislature.
