ABOUT MATTHEW DAVIES

I am an ACA (ICAEW) qualified Chartered Accountant with broad experience across audit, group finance, internal controls, business partnering, and operational improvement. I began my career as an external auditor with RSM UK in Leeds, training within a diverse portfolio of clients and delivering robust control recommendations to strengthen governance, while also coaching new talent and contributing to recruitment and development initiatives. I then moved into industry with Vp plc as Group Financial Accountant, where I partnered closely with senior stakeholders, led key elements of the external audit and group reporting process, improved forecasting models, delivered system upgrades, and gained wider commercial exposure through a secondment with the internal audit team and involvement in acquisition integrations. I am now with BPI leading the finance function as Financial Controller, where my focus is on delivering accurate, timely reporting, strengthening internal processes, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving continuous improvement across the business. I’m motivated by building high-quality finance operations, developing strong cross-functional relationships, and providing the clarity and insight that help organisations grow with confidence.
