As a Produce Buyer at Aldi, my primary responsibility is to ensure that the company always has access to fresh, high-quality produce at competitive prices. I am responsible for sourcing and purchasing alliums as well as many other types of fresh produce. In this role, I work closely with the Aldi team to develop and implement procurement strategies that ensure the availability of the best possible produce for our customers. I negotiate contracts, manage supplier relationships, and ensure that all produce meets our strict quality standards.As part of my responsibilities, I keep up-to-date with market trends and pricing, and work to ensure that Aldi is always getting the best possible value for our produce purchases. I also ensure that all produce is delivered on time and in good condition, and that all packaging and labeling meets regulatory requirements.Through my work on the Plastics and Packaging team at Aldi, my role supports the company\'s sustainability goals by reducing plastic waste and improving the recyclability of our packaging.To achieve this, I research and analyse new packaging materials and identify opportunities for reducing plastic content and improving recyclability. Working closely with suppliers, I developed new packaging designs that reduced plastic content whilst maintaining product integrity. I implement changes to packaging and designs to reduce plastic content and improve recyclability. To ensure that the new packaging designs met the company\'s sustainability goals, I communicated with internal stakeholders, including purchasing and branding teams. I maintained records of packaging changes, plastic usage reductions, and recycling improvements and reported progress to management. My role as Plastics and Packaging Assistant is crucial to Aldi\'s commitment to sustainability and to achieving their pledges.
