Working with the Central Alberta Regional Innovation Network (CARIN) and Grande Prairie Regional Innovation Network (GPRIN), my duties include the promotion of the Alberta Innovates (AI) programs, and the mentoring and coaching of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) primarily in Central and NW Alberta. I work as part of a dedicated team of Technology Development Advisors (TDAs) in AI\'s Entrepreneurial Investments department, with colleagues strategically located throughout the Province, reporting to AI\'s Director of Regional Innovation. As a TDA I work closely with many companies from a large variety of sectors who are in various stages of their company and technology development. This coaching support primarily focuses on advising my clients on their business strategy and often includes providing advice, support and connections relating to their business, corporate and market strategies. In addition, I was a co-lead on the design and development of the Alberta Additive Manufacturing Network (AAMN) and remain involved as a resource. This network advances the additive manufacturing sector via the establishment of a collaborative network that includes institutions, academia & industry. I am also involved in the establishment of the Manufacturing and Export Enhancement Cluster (MEE Cluster) and have also been involved in many other internal and external initiatives aimed at growing the innovation ecosystem. In my role I also work closely with a variety of local partners, stakeholders and service providers such as Red Deer Polytechnic, Olds College and the National Research Council’s IRAP representatives. A large portion of my role with stakeholders is to help effectively manage and grow CARIN and GPRIN, which includes working closely with a varied group of stakeholders to deliver a network that has shared goals and provides value for the SMEs of our region, and also links with the other RINs in Alberta to form a strong, Province wide innovation network.
