ABOUT MATTHEW COGGON
I am a research scientist at the NOAA Chemical Sciences Laboratory in Boulder, CO. I study the emissions and atmospheric chemistry of volatile organic compounds using advanced chemical ionization mass spectrometry. I deploy instruments in the field and laboratory to better understand how VOCs degrade air quality. I conduct detailed chemical modeling to simulate how these compounds lead to the formation of hazardous pollutants, such as ozone and PM2.5.
