Sheriff Matt CliffordDedicated to Public Safety and Community Service | Ada County SheriffAs a lifelong Idahoan, born and raised in Mullan and a graduate of BSU, I’ve proudly dedicated over 25 years to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, serving in roles from Detention Deputy to K9 Handler and Chief of Police in Eagle. In 2021, I was appointed Sheriff by the Ada County Commissioners and elected by our community in 2022. My mission is to make Ada County a safe, welcoming place to live, work, and play.I’m committed to leading with Integrity, Service, Dedication, and a positive Attitude, ensuring transparency and accountability across our department. My key priorities as Sheriff include: • Community Policing and Crime Prevention: Expanding outreach programs, building strong relationships, and educating residents through initiatives like “Navigating the Ada County Criminal Justice System.” • Opioid Crisis Response: Leading proactive drug enforcement and community education efforts to address the fentanyl crisis, in collaboration with task forces and federal representatives. • Mental Health: Strengthening our Crisis Intervention Team and enhancing mental health support within the Ada County Jail. • Training & Accountability: Providing ongoing officer training in de-escalation techniques and the latest policing tactics. • Fiscal Responsibility: Managing our $144 million budget effectively, focusing on efficient resource allocation and taxpayer savings. • Disaster Preparedness: Advancing our tech capabilities and cybersecurity to safeguard both community and departmental data. • Recruitment & Retention: Ensuring a skilled, well-trained workforce with a dedicated recruitment officer to address our staffing needs.I’m also a devoted husband and father, and I uphold Idaho’s values and the constitutional freedoms of Ada County, staying true to the commitment I made to serve and protect our community.
