ABOUT MATTHEW CAIRONE

I\'m a trial lawyer with over forty years of experience representing large industrial companies in toxic tort, products liability, employment, contract, and corporate matters.Much of my work involves complex, multi-jurisdiction litigation where I serve as national counsel — coordinating strategy across venues and managing high-stakes cases from inception through trial. I\'ve also served as national settlement counsel, a role I approach with particular care given my formal mediation training and track record of resolving difficult disputes.My focus in toxic tort is defending Fortune 500 clients against chemical exposure claims involving industrial solvents and consumer product ingredients. These cases live or die on science. I work closely with experts in hematology, toxicology, and epidemiology, and I\'ve built my practice around translating complex scientific data into clear, persuasive narratives for judges and juries.What sets my perspective apart: before returning to private practice, I served as Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of a billion-dollar chemical manufacturing company. I know what it\'s like to sit on the other side of the table — managing outside counsel, weighing litigation risk against business objectives, and making decisions under pressure. That experience shapes how I work with in-house counsel today.I\'m an approved mediator and early neutral evaluator in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and I volunteer as a mediator for the EEOC.Licensed in Pennsylvania and Michigan. Admitted in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of both states, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and routinely admitted pro hac vice in other jurisdictions.The views I share here are my own and don\'t represent my firm or colleagues.
