ABOUT MATTHEW BURNEY

I am a Senior Data & Analytics Specialist based in Manchester, with 7+ years experience in consulting. I enjoy solving data-related problems to help clients better understand and gain value from their data. In my current role as a Senior Consultant in the Data team at Slalom, I provide a wide range of data-related services to clients, including- BI Engineering & Data Visualisation - Advanced Analytics - Data Engineering - Automation - Data Transformation - Data Migration - Data Quality & Remediation - Data Governance I work on data solutions for clients across a broad number of industries including Banking, Retail, Transport, Housing, Healthcare, and Energy. Additionally, I have curated and taught a number of data-specific training courses to both clients and internal teams, covering tools such as Tableau, Power BI and Alteryx. I really enjoy this teaching aspect of my role, as I am enthusiastic about removing barriers to technology and helping people build confidence in learning new technical skills.Tools and Experience- Power BI (Microsoft Data Analyst Associate Certified)- Alteryx (Advanced Certified)- SQL - Tableau - Python (PCAP Certified)- Microsoft Azure (Microsoft AZ-900 Certified)- ArcGIS I graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2015 with a First Class BSc(Hons) degree in Geography, specialising in the cryosphere. I then obtained a Distinction in my postgraduate MSc(Res) degree in Polar and Alpine Change in 2018 from the University of Sheffield. As part of my postgraduate degree, I completed a field research season on the archipelago of Svalbard in the Arctic Ocean.
