Project Director leading the Mott MacDonald and WSP Joint Venture acting as the Technical Partner for East West Rail Co. The MWJV is delivering outline design and DCO consenting support for a new railway between Oxford and Cambridge. When complete the railway will connect people in the towns and villages between Oxford, Milton Keynes, Bedford, and Cambridge with the region’s main centres of employment and cultural heritage. The project brings a wealth of benefits to the regionincluding opening up new journeys, cutting travel times, easing congestion on local roads, and bringing more jobs within reach of local people. The £5bn project could add £78bn to the UK economic output through providing a catalyst of growth in the Oxford Cambridge arc.

Matthew is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 25 years’ experience as a Railway Professional. He is a business and project leader who specialises in the leadership of multidisciplinary design teams and projects in both the heavy and light rail environments. Matthew is a “Winner – Deliverer,” working on the entire project lifecycle from key account management and bidding, through to feasibility studies and detailed design.Matthew’s range of project experience encompasses enhancements and major renewals projects, stations, bridge works, ancillary civil engineering, line speed improvements and route electrification schemes.Matthew has led national business units with delivery teams around the UK and India, accountable for health and safety leadership, commercial performance, application of corporate systems, work winning, business development, recruitment, retention, staff development and pastoral care.
