ABOUT MATTHEW A. GUTIERREZ

A true servant leader, there has been no greater honor in my career than being appointed as the Superintendent of Seguin ISD. Under my executive leadership, the district cultivates, inspires, and empowers students to grow and learn. To ensure our exceptional students become exceptional citizens, I have built a strategic plan that operates under these fundamental beliefs: Students grow academically, emotionally, and socially when creative and imaginative educators ignite their passions. The learning experience should be engaging, relevant and collaborative to meet the needs of all. Parent, community and industry partners are essential for student success Teachers foster student curiosity and initiative through meaningful and relevant learning experiences. Relationships that nurture student growth and development are key to success.My path to this role has been shaped by numerous human resources leadership roles – including CHRO at Plano ISD, 7K+ employees, 53K+ students – where I have excelled in recruiting and retaining large workforces, fostering equitable/inclusive workplace cultures that celebrate diverse perspectives, and navigating complex employee relations issues and evolving regulatory requirements.
