WORK HISTORY
Freshwater Fishes Lead European Red List - Measuring the Pulse of European Biodiversity @IUCN
Currently leading the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species assessment process for freshwater fishes within the framework of the European Commission-funded \'Pulse\' project, which aims to guide policy decisions and conservation actions through the Red Listing of 11 taxonomic groups as input to the European Union\'s biodiversity strategy for 2030. My work within this project includes:• Preparation and writing of individual extinction risk assessments for 560 taxa at the global, regional and EU27 scales, including: creation of all associated texts, literature reviews, expert interviews, and geographic range mapping (ArcMap Pro/QGIS).• Organisation and facilitation of international review workshops incorporating governmental institutions, fisheries authorities, researchers, NGOs and other relevant parties.• Authorship of the 2025 IUCN Red List of European Freshwater Fishes report.• Provision of technical guidance to government agencies responsible for National Red Listing processes.
