Carries out research within the HyRES unit, Advanced Materials section, focusing on the synthesis of nanostructured thin films using advanced deposition techniques, particularly PVD and ALD. Activities include the development, optimisation, and preliminary electrochemical and physicochemical testing of functional materials for energy applications. The developed solutions are subsequently integrated into hydrogen technologies, either proprietary or provided by industrial partners, within the framework of research and innovation projects, especially at the European level.

ABOUT MATTEO BORDIN

As a researcher with a PhD in chemistry and a background in industrial engineering, I focus on the development of advanced materials for next-generation sustainable energy systems, with a particular interest in hydrogen technologies. My experience spans a wide range of synthesis techniques, with a focus on thin-film deposition methods such as PVD and ALD, as well as sol-gel, hydrothermal, and other advanced strategies for the design of functional materials. I am currently a member of the Hydrogen Technologies and Resilient Energy Systems (HyRES) group @FBK, contributing to the integration of innovative materials into electrochemical devices for hydrogen production and energy conversion. My work supports strategic R&D directions and collaborative European research projects, bridging laboratory research and system-level applications. With a strong interdisciplinary foundation and a hands-on approach to device synthesis, characterization, and integration, I aim to foster meaningful innovation at the interface of materials science, energy technology, and sustainability.
