ABOUT MATT BRIDGESTOCK
Matt is the managing director of John Gilbert Architects, an innovative and award-winning company based in Glasgow. He is an experienced practitioner who has led innovative architectural and planning projects. He has worked on projects from rural community development to inner city housing and urban regeneration. His work covers both practice and research in people and climate-friendly places. Matt has substantial experience in the delivery of sustainable buildings, with over 15 years’ experience in the design and specification of Passivhaus projects across Scotland. He and his team are currently working on of projects aiming for Passivhaus or zero-carbon status. He has led the practice for more than 10 years and has developed several ambitious partnerships- Passivhoos™ is a design and build partnership to deliver Passivhaus quality homes to social housing benchmarks across Scotland- Hab-Lab was developed with Strathclyde University to deliver building performance evaluation for domestic and non-domestic buildings. Hab-lab undertakes monitoring of many of JGA\'s projects and contributes to improving our understanding of building and user behaviour- Sussed Sustainability is a joint venture company established with Holmes Miller and Armila Sustainability, and which focuses on the sustainability agenda of public sector buildings, and informs clients on briefing, building performance, low carbon considerations and post occupancy evaluation and monitoring, with the purpose of achieving ecological and intelligent buildings. Matt has been involved in teaching architecture and environmental design at Glasgow School of Art, Strathclyde University and acted as external examiner at Sheffield University. He is a Passivhaus designer and certifier of design (Section 6). Matt is on the Passivhaus Trust Technical Panel and is vice Chair of the PHT Scotland regional group. He is a former chair of the Scottish Ecological Design Association and holds advanced accreditation by the RIAS for Sustainable Design.
