Principal Engineer @Dunelm
As a Principal Engineer, I look after 3 engineering teams inside Dunelm. I am accountablefor the engineering, architectural and quality side of the outcomes they work on, but workclosely with the technical leads and teams to allow them to take ownership and haveautonomy when developing the solutions. I am working on a number of key areas of theDunelm estate, including our Basket and Checkout, Order Management and our new instore initiatives.Projects I have worked on include supporting gift cards through our online journeys,replacing our legacy order management systems, redesigning our basket page,integrating with a new version of our HHT systems. I am currently working on addingsupport for saved cards in checkout, along with rebuilding our checkout using MFE (MicroFrontends).I am also the line manager for the Technical Leads in their squad, along with theGraduate Engineers. Until recently, I was also responsible for line managing all theengineers in the teams to, having up to 14 direct reports. I run regular 1 to 1s with them,along with running their annual performance reviews.I also work on initiatives which will benefit the entire Engineering chapter, such asdeveloping a career framework and skills matrix. I also kicked off our guilds initiative,launched the Dunelm Technology Podcast and I led the organisation of our first internalTechnology Conference, the Dunelm Tech Summit.
