For 30 years I have been developing and using engineering simulation across a range of industrial applications. This has given me valuable experience as an engineer, software developer, product manager, and leader of highly talented and specialized individuals. I picked up a PhD and became a Chartered Engineer along the way.Engineering simulation is used to create a digital twin that replicates the behaviour of a product or physical system. The business case depends on the application and the industry:1) to reduce time to market and the cost of physical prototyping2) to innovate, optimise and maintain a competitive edge3) in situations where physical testing is impossible or too risky4) for predictive maintenance when coupled with IoT
