ABOUT MATTHEW M.

If connecting for the first time, please include what we will collaborate about once we connect!*TLDR: débrouillard, Winston Wolf answering the call for those applying technology to national security. If you\'re a (fellow) long reader.I add context to find the important value-based intersections, perspectives and opportunities. I anticipate decisive aspects of people, processes, organizations, and technology. I will listen, analyze, communicate, and lead to collaboratively identify meaningful vision, enable team accomplishment, and promote sound organizational culture and processes. I\'m highly experienced in leading teams and partnering across disciplines and organizations. I rapidly and readily learn, adapt, iterate, and influence. I excel at leveraging my generalist background from nuclear power, submarining, compliance, strategic planning, consulting, and R&D. I am a proven driver of transformational change, trusted executive advisor, and influencer and implementer of strategic plans in roles with the United States Navy and in a technology research and development company. The rest of the story:Being a nuclear submariner is a life-experience of its own, my career pivoted when serving at the Pentagon on Sept 11th, 2001. While I did not play a direct combat role in the wars that followed, I worked to support our society\'s response to those profound challenges. With that motive I completed a highly competitive program that propelled me into shaping dialogue about key strategic challenges such as the rise of ISIS and adapting military planning concepts to changes in the character of military conflict. Gallup CliftonStrengths:Strategic = I think and evaluate at scale readily-I can sort through the clutter and find the best route.Individualization = I am intrigued by the unique qualities of each person. I appreciate people for who they are and tailor my interaction accordingly.Ideation = I see ideas as connections. I am excited to get beyond a complex surface to an elegant concept to explain an important why.Communication = I like to explain, describe, host, speak in public, and write-all are ways for me to explore and improve my understanding, connect with and learn from others, and plant seeds beyond my own thinking.Learner = I have that innate curiosity-especially the why, the who, and the connections that drive. I enjoy the journey. It feeds my other strengths. I thrive in environments that require learning a lot about a new subject matter in a short period of time - and then move on to the next one!
